When I 1st started my business my biggest challenges were people not knowing much about my business and trying to convince them I know what I know.. as well as sourcing new clients

As new small business owner myself I agree with Jason.. its not easy to get people to trust you as a new business.

I find building that trust takes time and consistent hard work but they eventually trust you.. pricing needs to be well thought out too. R1000 to a new business isnt as easily spent as with a bigger name with a good rep

When I first started I had the same problem as the gentlemen above.. over time people could see our work ethic and efficiency and then the work streamed in.. keep it up guys!

There are many challenges that you will face:

    • You will do almost 100% of the roles in your business when you start.
    • Cash flow issues.
    • If you plan on having a three-month sales cycle, you will see it is usually about six months.
    • Being alone and doing it alone. Then you start believing your arguments and ideas. Get a mentor and a coach.
    • People do not trust you yet. Serve on industry boards, help ours at big events etc. This gives you credibility.
    • The people who promised to send work your way when you quit your job and start your business never send any work to you and if they do, it is usually work you do not want to do.
    • You are accepting any work because you are cash strapped.

Thinking that you can do everything on your own is another problem. One should either employed Qualified people and invest in software that will save you time. In order to cover all the necessary expenses one should work atleast 40 hours a day. You need 5 employees to work 8 hours a day to achieve this.
