#Handsup π β»οΈπ We love this sustainable cradle-to-grave thinking!
"Going green for business owners usually involves taking into account their company's overall environmental friendliness. If you sell products, this means considering how green your product can be throughout its life cycle, from creation to packaging, delivery, and eventual disposal."
The circular economy hmmm β maybe thereβs a reason the world is round?

Green Start Ideas
#Handsup π β»οΈπ Get inspired by Green Start Ideas and be part of the solution.
"As a footwear and apparel designer, I am a first-hand witness to the ecological distress that consuming these products has caused the environment. I have dedicated my design practice to help brands create better products for people and the planet. This means helping them to understand the life cycle of their products, and the possibility of having a use long after the initial first lifecycle of benefit has been completed, and helping these brands and start-ups to think about the planetary and social impact their products have on the world.
The challenges experienced are usually around changing stakeholder mindsets. Manufacturers are usually the toughest crowd to please as they've operated for decades in the same way. I think the key to getting the message across is educational content that continues to draw their attention."

Wickfords
#HandsUp π β»οΈπ Well done to Wickfords for persevering in educating people about sustainability.
"I find that people do not easily accept different ways of thinking. Most of them are set in their beliefs and it needs some convincing to change their way of thinking. However, once they see the end result, they are impressed."

Birguid
#Handsup π β»οΈπ We're backing the businesses backing our planet!
"We predominantly operate as a paperless business to reduce the amount of paper we consume and this in essence reduces our demand for commercial plantation trees β key carbon dioxide ecosystem agents.
We have installed a grey water system that enables us to use water used to wash our dishes to water our garden and lawn. We also recycle and reuse our waste to reduce what is being sent to landfills.
We have invested in a solar system to provide us with backup power when we're loadshed and we have increased the use of greener and cleaner fuels (transforming the national energy mix to use less fossil fuels).
Lastly, we also work with our clients to reduce their emissions and achieve carbon neutral and net zero goals through our ESG (environmental, sustainability and governance) advisory function."

Mineral Moon
HandsUp! Mineral Moon for taking the green journey to heart! π β»οΈ
"Green to me means taking every possible consideration from the cradle to the grave when it comes to sustainable, eco-centric production, practice and distribution. Adopt what works well and learn from the challenges you identify β always be willing to learn and dig deeper, tap into what sets you apart and dream really, really big β you can make a difference, and every single little step counts. It doesn't matter how long it takes. There is no value you can assign to being an Eco-warrior. We have a legacy to protect for our youth."

Authentic Fashions
#Handsup! π β»οΈπ This is one fashion business that is taking its sustainability responsibility seriously.
"We do not like any waste and have several innovative ways to use all waste materials that we use. We sublimate fabrics to get our own prints. However, large paper rolls are a waste product after the sublimation process. We use these paper rolls to cut and make paper bags, which we use to package our clothing for customers. All scrap fabrics are on-donated. Some people use it to make small craft items that they sell. Other people use it as stuffing for beds that they make for the SPCA (beds for cats and dogs). Nothing goes to waste."
What are you doing to reduce wastage?

Vuselela Davis
#HandsUp π β»οΈπ Vuselela Davis are going one step further than sustainable.
"At Vuselela Davis, we believe in moving beyond Sustainability to regenerative operating and decision-making. We work with leaders to work on their Inner Sustainability Goals and shift their mindsets from a mechanised, reductionist worldview of business to one of the complex living systems that are attached to eco-systems, where the leader is the facilitator and relationship builder of these ecosystems. This takes courage to be and lead differently β we are here to co-create a safe space for leaders to unpack this regenerative executive identity."
